The BA (Hons) Media & TV Production programme is a highly practical course that prepares students for careers in the creative industries. This includes gaining experience and knowledge both ‘behind’ and ‘in front’ of the camera, and also develops the skills required for working as part of a film crew, live TV, sound recording in studios, as well as adding visual effects through operations in editing studios.
However, what Bill Gates wrote over 20 years ago will still apply into the future, ‘Content is King.’ And this course prioritises the development of new digital talents and creative minds.
This is currently a very dynamic area from a technology point of view, as digital technologies and software is constantly being developed on an ongoing basis. Customer and client behaviour is also changing as are the platforms for consuming content. Therefore our programme is delivered against a background of imparting relevant critical and transferable skills, which seeks to ensure that students remain employable throughout their careers.
TV and video advertising is adapting to new formats and increasingly relying on the personalisation of advertising content. The analysis of user data also makes it possible to optimise ads and content, increasing the benefit for potential customers. This programme constantly challenges students to consider consumer behaviour, cultural differences and anticipate and evaluate emerging trends.
Facilities at the Joint School are excellent and commensurate with industry professional standards.
