The BA (Hons) Creative Advertising course at HBU-UCLan is founded on the fundamental principle of creative thinking. While digital technologies continue to develop, providing us with new and exciting media platforms on which to engage potential customers and clients, the importance of ‘a good idea’ remains constant.
This well established, successful course is all about the creative side of the advertising business. Whether students aspire to be an Art Director, Copywriter, Advertising Typographer or Designer in a top flight advertising agency; this programme provides the challenge of working to tight deadlines on fast moving, often ‘live’ creative projects. This is where strategy, ideas generation and development, digital literacy, craft skills, critiques and presentation skills are major elements of the creative journey.
From the first day on the programme students will work on a wide variety of creative briefs that reflect the rapidly changing face of the advertising industry, and be supported by a highly dedicated, and award winning international teaching team. The programme encourages students to think critically, and laterally The aim is to get students to fully exploit their creative thought processes and to be able to challenge traditional attitudes and perceptions to form innovative solutions and strategies.
Keeping up with the pace of digital change and staying ahead of audience perception are vital qualities for success in this creative domain. Therefore the programme content encourages students to generate creative strategies through traditional channels - TV, radio, print, poster and digital. Importantly the programme also explores new and emerging communication and engagement platforms that are data based, interactive and personalised through social media, with the aim of encouraging students to anticipate future trends and influences.
