BA (Hons) Graphic Design is based on the world leading programme established at Preston which has been running for 50 years. It has and continues to produce some of the most influential designers in the industry.
The course focuses on creative problem-solving. We prioritise developing students graphic design skills through both print and digital media. As well as getting to grips with traditional graphic design disciplines like typography, editorial, branding and packaging. Students also exploit digital platforms including moving image, website and app concepts.
We believe that the ability to create fresh and inventive ideas is what makes students distinctive. We have therefore structured a work environment which stimulates original concepts and creative ideas, and challenges established tropes. As an international Sino-UK programme we encourage students to consider their own vast cultural and artistic heritage here in China and use this to inform their creative ideas.
This creative journey is focused around individual effort and solutions, but within the context of the group. Students will normally be briefed, and have interim and presentation critiques together, and are encouraged to contribute their ideas to these discussions. Students learn to be independent in their own scheduling and work planning in an industry where time management and meeting deadlines are vital.
