International Foundation Year

Yuan An is a dedicated Academic English Lecturer teaching Academic Literacy to first-year undergraduate students on the International Foundation Year Programme. He also supports MA students in preparing for the TELL and IELTS examinations.

He holds a Master’s degree in TESOL from the University of Stirling and is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Yuan is also a certified university lecturer in English under the National Higher Education Teacher Qualification framework and holds an IELTS score of 8.5.

With over eleven years of experience in English education, Yuan’s research interests include language application, assessment literacy, and exam preparation. He believes that exam preparation should go beyond achieving high scores to developing practical language skills. In his classes, he aims to foster a growth mindset and motivate students to learn from mistakes. Prior to his current role, he gained extensive cross-cultural teaching experience in UK–China joint institute programmes.
