BA (Hons) Animation

Charlotte Blacker serves as the Course Leader for the BA Animation program and Senior Lecturer at HBU-UCLan, a position she has held since 2017. She holds both BA and MA degrees from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and is currently pursuing her PhD at Arts University Bournemouth. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), she maintains memberships in several professional organizations including the Society of Animation Studies (SAS), Women in Animation Network (WIA), and Creative Practice Research Academy (CPRA). Her research focuses on experiential learning pedagogy and practice-as-research approaches.

Charlotte specializes in pre-school animation, with her works screened at over 30 international festivals including Montreal Stop Motion Festival and Children's Film Festival Seattle. Her graduate film "The Little Red Plane" won the 2010 Royal Television Society Award for best undergraduate film and was featured in the British Animation Awards' 2011 Box of Delights DVD. Her work has been exhibited at the UK's National Centre for Craft and Design and selected for the University of Cambridge's DIALLS program promoting cultural literacy in European schools. She currently teaches on the BA (Hons) Animation program.
