International Foundation Year
Benjamin Hall is an English language and academic skills lecturer with over a decade of university-level teaching experience in Asia, specialising in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), communication skills, and learner-centred pedagogy. He currently serves as a Lecturer for the International Foundation Year (IFY) at the HBU-UCLan School of Communication, Media, and Creative Industries, where he supports foundation students in developing the academic communication, critical thinking, and language skills required for successful transition into UK degree programmes.
Benjamin holds a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL with a focus on learning with technology, and brings extensive experience designing and delivering innovative curricula for diverse student groups. His teaching practice integrates evidence-based pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning, and creative task design to build student confidence, autonomy, and real-world communication competence.
He has established a strong record of teaching EAP with an emphasis on academic speaking, vocabulary development, grammar understanding, and structured communication. He embeds critical-thinking development into his lessons, helping students analyse ideas, articulate perspectives, and engage more confidently with academic content. He also draws on years of experience coaching learners in interviews and presentations, enabling them to refine their professional communication skills.
