BA (Hons) Graphic Design

Maryam Saleem is a Lecturer in the Design Department, contributing to the BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design and a Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in Multimedia, focusing on video production, motion graphics, and 3D environment design. She is currently pursuing her PhD in New Media Design and Technology at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

Her research focuses on the preservation and conservation of architectural heritage through digital simulation, experimenting interactive and immersive tools that support cultural tourism and digital heritage experiences. She investigates how AI, digital technologies, and emerging new media practices can enhance user engagement, strengthen emotional connection, and provide innovative solutions within cultural and creative contexts.

With over five years of teaching experience in graphic design and 3D animation, and more than 8 years of practical experience in commercial graphic design, Maryam’s broader work explores the intersection of design, advertising, and new media technologies. She adopts an interdisciplinary approach to creative problem-solving and innovation. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes research-led practice and the integration of contemporary digital technologies to equip students for the rapidly evolving creative industries.
